EMERSON’S BREWERY LAUNCHES ‘RARE BEER’ TO SUPPORT RARE DISORDERS MONTH
The Short and Stout 1.5% Super Session Stout rare beer is our entry in the 2024 Rare Beer Challenge taking place on March 8 in support of Rare Disorders Month.
Organized by Fortune Favours, The Rare Beer Challenge brings together breweries from across the country to use weird, wonderful ingredients and brewing techniques to produce their version of a rare beer. The challenge is part of Rare Disorders Month (March) and proceeds are donated to Rare Disorders New Zealand.
Short and Stout is a full bodied stout with a very low ABV of 1.5%. We used 14 different types of malted and un-malted grains - some including barley, wheat, rye, oats, and buckwheat to add depth and complexity. Expect an aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate with caramel undertones, pouring with a deep black hue crowned by a thick tan coloured head. On the palate it's a roasty stout with a velvety mouthfeel and smooth bitterness, all at a low ABV of 1.5%.
Kicking off on the rarest day, February 29th, Rare Disorders Month is an advocacy and support period for the more than 300,000 New Zealanders who live with one of 6,000+ rare disorders.
